About

Simon Jaquemet is a Swiss film director, screenwriter and co-founder of the production company 8horses. He studied Film Directing at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). His debut feature War (Chrieg) premiered in San Sebastián's New Directors competition in 2014 and went on to tour major festivals including Berlinale, Karlovy Vary and Locarno. The film received multiple awards, among them the Max Ophüls Award for Best Feature Film and Best Film at the Marrakech International Film Festival.

His second feature, The Innocent (Der Unschuldige), premiered in the Platform competition of the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018, followed by its European premiere in San Sebastián's Official Selection. It screened at festivals including Fantastic Fest, Thessaloniki, Jeonju and Locarno, and received several awards, including the Swiss Film Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Simon's third feature, Electric Child, premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2024 and went on to screen at Sitges and IFFR. The film won Best Cinematography at the Swiss Film Awards 2025.
