Simon Jaquemet studied Film Directing at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). His debut feature War (Chrieg) premiered in San Sebastián’s New Directors competition in 2014 and went on to tour major festivals such as Berlinale, Karlovy Vary and Locarno. War was the recipient of multiple awards, including among others the Max Ophüls Award for Best Feature Film, and Best Film at the Marrakech Film Festival. His second feature The Innocent (Der Unschuldige) premiered in the Platform competition of the Toronto International Film Festival 2018, followed by a European Premiere in San Sebastián’s Official Selection. It toured major festivals like Fantastic Fest, Thessaloniki, Jeonju and Locarno and won several awards including the Swiss Film Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Simon’s third feature Electric Child premiered at Locarno FF in 2024, screening among others at Sitges, IFFR, and winning Best Cinematography at the Swiss Film Awards 2025, and is still touring international film festivals.
